my wife and I are midwestern/white/college educated
What is the best name (male/female) for my soon to be born child?
boy names seem to be the hardest... i have two children and well i have to admitt i named them well. my daughter is gabriella, she is VERY gabby. and my son is AYDEN. ethan is also on my list, olivia also, natalia, jason, johanna(girl name). those are just a few i would need to get my baby name list out. let me know...

They have a full list of Shakespeare names and ones of specific ethnic origin with roots and meanings.
I think we鈥檝e narrowed the boys name down to Sebastian (from Twelfth Night). The girls name is still being hotly contested by all parties involved.
Good luck and congratulations.

Reply:Obviously you value education, so name your kid something unique. Studies have shown children with unique names do better in school. They are not confused with other students and they get more one on one time with teachers. Go type in unique names in a search engine and have at it. Good luck my son is named Dragan.

Reply:The best names are family names. Look back to your/her grandparents, great grandparents, aunts/uncles, etc. If you have any relatives that you really love and want to give them a special honor, consider naming your children after them. If the name is not exactly right, or you want to avoid confusion by having 2 people in the family with the same name, you can modify the name a little bit. I named my daughter after my grandmother, whose name is Elaine. We modified the name and my daughter is Elaina.
Good luck. Giving a name is a big responsibility. I'm sure whatever you choose will be perfect for your child.
