Is Rex still a good name for a male dog?

Or is it so out of date that people will laugh?

Is Rex still a good name for a male dog?
It's a damn good name for a dog. Especially if you're going to stud him out!
Reply:Rex means "king" ... It is no more outdated than are Spot, Lassie, Tiger, Tigger, Fang, Wolfie (honestly, I heard someone name their dog that), nor is it more ridiculous than are some (ok - ALL) of the pedigreed show dogs.





Rex is a great name - but, you really don't need to worry about what other people think. A dog will have a number of names in his life - the one you give him formally, the nicknames that grow out of that, and (to steal the mythology of cats) the name that is known only to him.





You want the name you give him to be a proud name. Rex is an honorable name. You want the name to fit. You want it to be something that you can yell when you are trying to get his attention, and that won't take five minutes to say. When you are training him, you are going to want something short and unmistakable for the commands that you will be teaching.





Again - Rex is an excellent name, even if your dog is a chihuahua... why not let him think he is the king of the house?
Reply:Its okay but i had a boy in my class one time who's name was Rex .. Wasnt too friendly and not bright. I think he moved or dropped outta of school .. But i remember he was cute. So yeah Rex is a good name if he's bright.
